The Spring Fine Arts Night at Hilltop Primary School on April 28 featured music and art from the school’s second and fourth grade students. The event was held in the Performing Arts Center and featured two musical programs and a dazzling display of student artwork for families and friends to enjoy.

The second graders shared a program called “Our Musical World,” which included songs from around the globe. The fourth graders followed with “Rounds, Rhythms, and Recorders” where they showcased many songs and skills that they have worked on throughout the school year.

"I'm really proud of the work that all the second and fourth graders put into learning their music but most of all, I hope they all had a really fun time!” said music teacher Theresa Schmidt. “There is something so special about making music in a large group where everyone comes together for a common goal."

Each student also looked through their personal art portfolio and chose one piece to display that was meaningful to them. Artworks included cut-paper Indian rangoli collages, block-printed Ghanian Adinkra designs, chalk pastel owl drawings, representational self-portraits, woven tapestries, O'Keeffe-inspired fall leaf paintings, Edward Hopper-inspired cardboard sculptures, seascapes, landscapes, and more.

“I love having the opportunity to display our students' artwork in such a professional-level gallery,” said art teacher Klair Hans.  “The students' creativity and hard work was astounding!”
