An estimated 1,500 people attended the Imagination Celebration at Hilltop Primary School on March 12. The event happens once every three years at Hilltop and is meant to honor the creativity and personal expression of students in a variety of disciplines. This year's theme was "let your imagination run wild!"

The event included a talent show run by music teacher Theresa Schmidt, a school-wide art show, a Scholastic book fair, craft stations, photobooths, an art auction (where each class made a collaborative artwork, professionally framed by the Oltrogge family with wood donated by Mayer Lumber), and giant collaborative displays, including a black-light Amazon rainforest created by every single Hilltopper! In addition, a Homemade Creations exhibit featured 80 submissions, including science projects, paintings, sewing projects, wood carvings, puppets, stop motion animation videos, and hand-made books.

In a true community effort in service of Hilltop students, the event raised $1,800 for Hilltop's art program and the Scholastic book fair raised thousands of dollars for Hilltop's library.

“I loved having the opportunity to show-off our students' incredible artistry and effort to such a large audience and feel so much gratitude for the generosity of our families,” said art teacher Klair Hans.

The school extended a special thank you to over 50 parent volunteers who helped throughout the process, especially Allison Brown and Megan Latterner, who spent weeks planning lessons, volunteering in classrooms, and installing most of the giant displays.

“It was a truly whimsical evening!” said Hans.
