Nominations are open through March 6 for the 2026 Ann Bremer White Hawks Award, a special award implemented by the district to recognize some of the many dedicated volunteers who offer exceptional service to our school community.

Students at every school in the Westonka School District embraced the holiday spirit throughout December by collecting a variety of items for families served by the Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN).

Westonka students concluded an exciting and rewarding FIRST^® LEGO^® League season. Westonka’s FIRST^® LEGO^® League Explore team celebrated their season with the Explore Festival on Dec. 16. Earlier this month, Westonka Middle School students on the FIRST^® LEGO^® League Challenge team competed with their robot in the FLL Regional Competition.

Superintendent Kevin Borg and Westonka Education Minnesota representative Jack Boland surprised four Westonka Public Schools educators Nov. 20 with their respective school’s top teaching award.

Families with children of all ages got a first taste of Westonka Public Schools’ “small school advantages with big school opportunities” during the district’s Prospective Family Night on Nov. 13.

Students throughout the Westonka School District celebrated Veterans Day on Nov. 11, honoring all those who have served our country in war or peace.

Shirley Hills and Hilltop primary schools were recently recognized by the Minnesota Star Tribune as “beating the odds,” meaning students performed far better on state math and/or reading assessments than predicted based on poverty rates.

Fully costumed for Halloween, members of the WHS Wind Ensemble performed a series of short Halloween concerts on Oct. 31 at Westonka Middle School and at Shirley Hills and Hilltop primary schools. They also visited Lake Minnetonka Shores, where they performed for a slightly older crowd.
